The Mexican Government has responded to President Trump’s plan to build a ‘great border wall’ by beginning the construction of a giant ladder, and insisting that ‘America will pay for it’. The announcement was first made at a press conference by Mexican President Pena Nieto.

Nieto told the assembled journalists that Mexico refused to be cut off by Trump’s border wall, and had calculated that based on the proposed size this wall could easily be breached by ‘a giant ladder’. Nieto explained that construction had already begun on the ladder, which he claimed will be ‘so big, so beautiful’, and for no remotely logical reason asserted that America would ‘definitely’ pay for it.

Mexican officials have reportedly been concerned about the impact of Trump’s wall and associated tariffs on trade between the two countries, and believe the giant border ladder will help. Speaking off the record a Mexican official told us that he was ‘confident’ that the current rate of trade between America and Mexico could be continued ‘over one ladder’, but admitted that those involved would need to move ‘pretty damn quickly’.

So far President Trump has failed to respond to Nieto’s announcement. We understand this is because he’s misplaced his iPhone, so is unable to access Twitter.
